How Does Windscribe Work?

Windsribe is a Canadian VPN service that does two things — blocks ads and possible trackers that jeopardize your online privacy and breaks through existing barriers for many restricted web locations.

It provides 60 different server locations all over the U.S. and Europe. This number of servers secures a quality VPN connection. 

As far as the working principle of Windscribe is concerned, there is no rocket science. It follows the operating procedure of any common VPN.  It routes your internet connection via its server instead of the internet service provider. Doing so endows the end-user with a completely secure and encrypted internet connection.  

In common words, it behaves as a protecting shield for your internet connection, hides the IP address, and gives you total anonymity by creating a private tunnel for your device.

Speed Tests and Performance 

For this review, I’ve performed a speed test before and after switching on the VPN. Windscribe apps didn’t slow down our connection drastically.

The download speed was high, thanks to the connection on Windscribe servers that were geographically close.

During the research, we tested the ping, download, and upload speed of Windscribe on the US, UK, and EU servers. 

The ping, download, and upload speeds on the US Central server were 140ms, 29.74 Mbps, and 2.07 Mbps, respectively.

The pin speed on the UK (46ms) and EU (92) servers was far less than what I noticed on the US Central server. However, when the downloading speed was concerned, the EU server was quicker than the US Central server. 

Privacy and Logging Policy 

Besides encryption and protocols, what makes Windscribe secure is a firewall that other similar VPN services call a kill switch. The kill switch will block the internet connection of your VPN to protect data from being exposed. Port forwarding can protect servers from any unwanted access.

Windscribe has a secure logging policy and doesn’t store logs that could identify users.

Its privacy policy meets industry standards. Also, it doesn’t force you to provide an email or any other extra information. For better anonymity, it supports Bitcoin. So, your payment processing can’t be tracked down.

Many countries don’t support torrents or any peer-to-peer, yet you can overpass torrents with the VPN browser extension.

Also, check out the Windscribe blog, which contains useful information. Since the beginning of time, Windscribe has had a ticket system that is still in action. Usually, their team will respond to your tickets within a few hours. But, on a bad day, you may have to wait for a few days for the answers.

Besides this, Windscribe has a live chatbot, Gerry, to help you.  In my testing, it was able to provide real-time assistance for most of the general queries.  But don’t expect expert assistance. At the end of the day, it’s a machine that will help you as it was told. Also, it can be a bit slow or sluggish at times.

All the too complicated queries will be automatically transferred to the live customer care team of Windscribe. All in all, Windscribe has a responsive customer care system.
