Tigers Fall Again – Monday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Cleveland Indians scored five runs in the second inning, and went on to defeat the Detroit Tigers 8-3 yesterday. The outburst came off Daniel Norris, who was hurt by some sloppy defense. Norris wound up pitching seven innings. He was charged with six runs on eight hits, and struck out eight. José Cisnero gave up the final two Cleveland runs in the eighth inning. JaCoby Jones hit a lead-off home run for Detroit.

The Tigers have today off, and host the Texas Rangers tomorrow night. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Jesse Chavez. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored five runs in the third inning, on the way to a 7-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds yesterday. Travis Shaw hit a long home run, and Orlando Arcia also knocked one out. Brandon Woodruff struck out 12 batters over seven innings. His only big mistake was a three-run homer by Joey Votto in the sixth inning.

The Brewers also have today off, and entertain the Seattle Mariners tomorrow night. Zach Davies will pitch against Marco Gonzales.

In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League play tonight, the games between Crush/Diamond House/ Baby E’s and Superior National Bank have been postponed. A make-up date will be announced soon.

– At Miller Memorial Field in Laurium, Coca Cola/Monte Carlo will face Auto Pro/ThermoAnalytics at 6:15, and then play Luigi’s at 7:30.
– At Hurontown, A and S Industrial faces Pat’s Foods/Bucko’s at 6:15, and Downtowner Two at 7:30.
– At the Hancock Driving Park, McGann’s/Northern Auto meets Koppers at 6:15, and Harter’s Carquest at 7:30.
