Tigers Fall, Lose Stewart and Moore – Thursday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Detroit Tigers lost their second-straight 10-inning game last night, falling 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Detroit scored twice in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead, but the Bucs tied it in the eighth, and scored the game-winner off Buck Farmer in the 10th. Spencer Turnbull gave up a run over six innings.

The Tigers host the Chicago White Sox this afternoon. Tyson Ross will start against Ivan Nova. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The game wasn’t the only loss the Tigers experienced yesterday. Christin Stewart injured a quad muscle while chasing a fly ball in the outfield. He’ll be evaluated today. And pitcher Matt Moore’s knee injury turned out to be much more serious than originally thought. Reconstructive surgery will cost him the rest of the season.

Corbin Burnes struggled again, as the Milwaukee Brewers dropped a 6-3 decision to the Saint Louis Cardinals yesterday. Burnes left in the fourth inning, after giving up nine hits. He was charged with five runs. Aaron Wilkerson relieved him, pitched four innings, and hit a home run.

The Brewers host the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. Zach Davies will pitch against Julio Urías.
